| Joomla Module Enhancements: Newsflash |
|
We have recently modified some core modules in Joomla in order to provide some much-needed functionality to our clients. We will be happy to release these to everybody, once we have tested them. The first module ready for release is an enhancement to the Newsflash module, which allows the display of multiple random articles. UPDATED! Version 1.0.1 now available. Changes: Articles are now randomised BEFORE they are selected, so you truly get a random display of articles when you set a limit. The core Newsflash module is very useful, however it suffers one obvious limitation: the ability to display multiple random articles in either the Vertical or Horizontal formats. This module is a replica of the newsflash module, but simply provides two extra options in addition to Default (random), Horizontal, and Vertical.
We hope you find this useful! INSTALLATION: Simply use the Joomla installer to locate the module zip file, and away you go. You will now have a new module called Newsflash_Enhanced available. You can download the module here: LATEST v1.0.1 Joomla Elegant Logic Newsflash Module v.1,0.1 OLD v1.0.0 Joomla Elegant Logic Newsflash Module v1.0.0
Please leave a comment below if you have downloaded this module, and found it useful. A thanks would be most appreciated! If you are having trouble installing or using this module, feel free to ask for help below (although we cannot guarantee you will receive it from us, but there are some helpful people out there who might).

Please see the new version 1.0.1 - your issue should be addressed.
Please see the new version on this page - v1.0.1
Should do the trick!! Please let me know.
Hi there,
I am not clear on what the problem is, although 'Vicent' was able to resolve it himself. I assume it was not a problem with the module, and probably something to do with either his server setup, or some other Joomla module/component.
Let me know what version of Joomla you are running, and what other modules and components you have installed.

getting the same here!
When you limit it to a certain number of articles, it picks those article from your category BEFORE the random function is run. Therefore, the random list is not generated from ALL articles in your chosen category.
When I turn my newsflash module back to the default setting (which is also random), it too shows the same behaviour you describe.
So the problem lies with the original module on which this one is based.
I can see why you would want this feature so we will be re-writing this module from scratch very soon, and will be sure to make the random list generate itself from the entire list of articles within your chosen category.
Thanks for the feedback
example: "If i have category with 8 articles, and i set No. of Items to 2, then it should be displaying 2 random articles of that 8, not only the first two from category"
there is any solution???
Great!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!
What its the problem?
