How do I add a link to an article in my Joomla website?
Joomla 1.5
1. Login to the administration panel for your website. This will usually be http://yourdomain.com/administrator
2. Open the article you want to edit, either via the Content Menu, or whichever component the article exists under.
3. In the edit window, type in your content (if there is none), and then highlight the part of your content that you wish to make into a link. Then click on the chain link icon in the editor's menu. [Fig 1]

4. Enter the link into the Link URL field - either copy and paste your link from your source, or type it in in full. If you are linking to an external site, be sure to enter in a format similar to http://somedomain.com/somepage.html
If you are linking to a page in your site, you can enter the full path as above, or you can also simply enter the page location relative to your domain name e.g. If the full path to the page you want to link to in your site is http://yourdomain.com/yourpage.php, then you can probably just enter the Link URL as 'yourpage.php'.
Note that if you are linking to an external site, you should have the link open in a new window so that your website visitor is not taken away from your website. You can specify this under the TARGET field. [Fig 2]

5. Click on the INSERT button at the bottom of the window to save the changes to your link.
Remember to save the actual article as well, by clicking on the SAVE/APPLY button (or whatever button the component you are using provides).
